Tailgating Tips

Talking Tailgate! Your tips from the lot.

It’s time for the big event and you lay out your strategy. You’re ready to go and want to know how to have the best tailgate party ever! These tips are just basic but in the long run, they pack plenty of punch to help you and friends to stay safe and have the best experience possible. From our family to yours…Enjoy!

1. Bring plenty of ice! Always make sure your food is kept chilled till ready to serve or prepare. Bacteria can rapidly form when food is left out. Better to have too much ice than not enough. Separate ice for drinks from ice for storage!

2. Keep your meats wrapped and separate from other food items till ready to prepare.

3. Individual servings prepared ahead save time to party!

4. Make sure your grill is good to go before you leave home. Check your tanks and clean out any old charcoal. Safe grilling is happy grilling!

5. Include a couple of heavy duty recyclable plastic bags for trash disposal when the party’s over. Put recyclable cans and bottles in the empty cooler to dispose of at home when possible if there are no recycle containers in the lot.

6. Bring a tarp set up for extra cover! It will provide protection from the elements whatever they may be. Make sure to lay it out and learn how to set it up. It’s best to prepare ahead to avoid surprises before arriving at your party lot spot!

7. Simple set ups are the best. Depending on space, keep food and beverages separate on your table to help with the flow around your set-up.

8. Appoint designated drivers before heading off to the big event! Drinking responsibly is a win-win for everyone!

9. Always include a first aid kit with sunscreen in your tailgate set-up

10. Remember your neighbor may be rooting for the other team. At Famous 58, we promote being a good sport as the number 1 rule of thumb for everyone to have a great day! There’s always another day and another game, race or concert to enjoy!
